Desalination

There are 13,000 desalination plants globally.
Growth rate at 12% per yr.

Desalination produces 14mn cubic metres of water daily.
Desalination provides less than 1% of global water consumption.

North Africa (Libya and Algeria), uses about 6% of worldwide capacity.
United States uses desalinated water (6.5%), specially in California and parts of Florida
Middle East, (S. Arabia, Kuwait, the UAE, Qatar, Bahrain), uses about 70% of worldwide desalination capacity.

Another trend i found out is related the Newater ( Waste water recyling).

TORAY Membrane, with its famous reverse osmosis membrane, seems having a bright future in this area.

Yeah Toray seems to be a big player in the membrane business. May be worthwhile to take a look at the company.
